Cross Country Finishes Season in Style

FISHERSVILLE– Despite the frosty and cold morning, the Caisson XC runners finished out their Cross Country season on Saturday in style at Barrenridge Vineyards. Eleven weeks of training brought out many PR’s (or, maybe it was the hot pink race shirts)?

Finishing first for the team and 11th overall, with a PR of 19:58, senior Joshua Elms met his season’s goal of beating 20 minutes. He was followed by senior Ethan Gaudin (14th) with a time of 20:34. Ethan Gaudin PR’d and shaved off exactly 2 minutes from his time at our meet at Coyner Springs held Oct. 13. Sophomore Aiden Smith (18th) ran a PR also, in 21:24, a minute and a half better than the Coyner Springs meet. Finishing next for the Caissons, in 22:04, was senior Will Terry (22nd) followed 2 seconds later by junior Seth Leinonen.

Seventh grader Dietrich Larson PR’d by shaving 3 seconds off his strong performance at Coyner Springs, and finished in 22:23. Senior James White was next with his own PR of 22:42. Eighth grader Pierce Mahailoff finished in 42nd with a time of 26:08 and senior Francis Ko fought through injury to record a 34:06, good enough for 101 of 166 runners.

Although the season had fewer meets than normal, it was great to be able to train together and compete in three meets while showing strong improvement for the season. We look forward to steady improvement next year.
