Living on Campus

The systems and support that keep Cadets healthy, prepared, and focused

Living on campus is a central part of the Fishburne experience. Cadets live, study, train, and relax together, forming friendships that often last well beyond graduation. Daily routines bring structure and predictability, while shared meals, evenings in the barracks, weekends off campus, and approved town time create space to unwind and connect.
Behind the scenes, housing, health services, and personal care are carefully managed so Cadets can focus on what matters most: growing in confidence, taking responsibility, and finding their place within a close-knit community. It’s an environment designed not just for discipline and independence, but for belonging.

List of 5 items.

  • Residential Life and Roommates

Cadets live in supervised barracks where structure and community go hand in hand. Roommates are assigned by the Commandant and his staff, with thoughtful consideration given to age, grade level, rank, and new Cadet status. The goal is to create strong, healthy pairings that support adjustment and long-term friendships.

While many Cadets form lasting bonds with their roommates, room changes may be made when appropriate. These decisions are handled carefully and always at the discretion of the Commandant, based on Cadet needs, family requests, or staff recommendations.
  • Rooms and Furnishings

Cadet rooms are fully furnished by Fishburne, eliminating the need to bring additional furniture. Each room is designed to support study, rest, and organization. Personal electronics are permitted but limited to items that fit neatly on a desk, helping Cadets maintain focus and order.

Cadets are expected to keep their rooms clean and inspection-ready. This expectation reinforces personal responsibility and pride in one’s living space. Additional items, such as small refrigerators, posters, musical instruments, or approved electronics, may be allowed at the discretion of the Commandant.
  • Grooming and Uniform Readiness

Fishburne maintains clear grooming standards as part of its commitment to discipline and professionalism. Cadets visit the on-campus barber shop regularly, typically every two weeks, to maintain required hair standards. These services are included in room and board.

Hair must be neat and closely trimmed, with length and style guidelines outlined by the Commandant’s Office. These routines help Cadets build consistency, confidence, and readiness for daily responsibilities.
  • Laundry and Clothing Care

Fishburne provides laundering and dry-cleaning services for military uniforms and authorized civilian clothing. This service ensures Cadets are consistently prepared and presentable without the burden of managing daily laundry themselves.

Minor alterations and standard repairs are included, while more extensive work may incur an additional charge. This system supports uniform readiness while teaching Cadets to care for their belongings responsibly.
  • Health and Medical Care

Cadet health and safety are a top priority. The on-campus infirmary is staffed by a nurse seven days a week, with regular hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A nurse is always on call when the infirmary is closed.

Faculty and staff members live on campus and are available to assist Cadets who require medical attention outside of regular hours, including transportation to local medical facilities when necessary. Families can be confident that care is available at all times.
