At Fishburne Military School, we strive to empower young men to reach their full potential and become the best version of themselves. The Cadet Leadership Program, overseen by our experienced Commandant’s Staff and Barracks Life Staff, encourages our cadets to strip away what they think are their limitations, and show them what they are truly capable of doing. By fostering a supportive environment that promotes self-discovery, we are empowering the leaders of tomorrow.
Critics may question the relevance of military prep schools, but as a product of an independent boarding school environment and with a 24-year military background, I firmly believe that there will always be a place for schools like Fishburne in shaping the next generation of leaders. Our unique approach fosters discipline, resilience, camaraderie, and academic excellence in our cadets, equipping them with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex world.
My command philosophy is a simple one: show up, do the work, accept responsibility, and take care of the person next to you. Even on my worst days, I will do the same for you.
a) Show up. Be on time, where you are supposed to be, in the right uniform, ready to train and learn.
b) Do the work. Whether it is grades, athletics, or a musical instrument: you cannot expect to get better at something if you don’t practice it. I believe every cadet has the potential to excel. When facing academic or disciplinary challenges, the key to improvement lies in the effort you put forth. If you’re standing in front of my desk, I’ll be looking for indicators of self-improvement and determination.
c) Accept responsibility. At Fishburne, we encourage our cadets to confront challenges head-on or seek help when needed. Honesty is a cornerstone of our values; I would much rather help you navigate a difficult situation than deal with dishonesty or deception.
d) Take care of the person next to you. No one gets through this alone. The core mission of this school is to teach you teamwork. Make sure your buddies and roommates are okay- whether it is squaring away for inspection, talking to them about their day, supporting them at their sports events, or just letting them know you’re around.
