XC Racks Up PRs at Conference Meet

“It was a great day to be a [Fishburne Military School] Caisson”

Lynchburg, VA; recap from Coach Tankard— It was a great day to be a Caisson at the VIC Conference XC meet on Saturday. Almost every runner posted their fastest 1 mile split on the HumankindFishburne Military School Cross Country Team Course (Old Presbyterian Home campus). Some cadets continued their overall time improvement as well, with 8th grader Justin Hill and 7th grader Ian Clardy earning season personal records (PR’s).

Garrett Rose again finished first for the Caisson runners with his best 1st mile split of 5:40. He finished the race in 20:02. This was not a PR, but he did shave off 1:07 from his time at the same course last year. Second for the Caissons was Riley Malone who had his best mile split of the season as well, but could not translate that to a 5K personal record either. The remaining scoring five for Fishburne Military School were sophomore Mitch Cooper, Justin Hill and senior Jack Poulsen.

The Fishburne Military Schoo Caisson runners will continue to work on getting their second/third mile times down with “negative splits” the goal of our last few practices before the VISAA State Championship at Woodberry Forest on Friday the 10th.

The Fall Athletics Banquet was held on Wednesday. Varsity letters were earned by Mitch Cooper, Justin Hill, Riley Malone and Garrett Rose. Congratulations to the award winners who put in the extra effort and inspired their teammates to strive further. Those awards were as follows:

MVP: Garrett Rose
Caisson Hustle: Justin Hill
Most Improved: Ian Clardy
Leadership: Garrett Rose
Iron Caisson: Riley Malone
