Summer Curriculum

  • Earn Credits Towards Graduation!

    Academic Course Offerings

    • Algebra (Pre, I, II), Geometry 
    • World and US History
    • English 7-11
    • Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry 
    • Spanish I & II
    • JROTC I & II

    **Academic classes are offered as full day courses for students who will take the class for the first time or as half day courses for students who will retake the class to increase their GPA or earn a passing grade. Academic credits will transfer back to the student’s home school. 

    **All Summer Courses are "standard" level, no honors level/advanced/AP/Dual Enrollment courses are offered over the summer.

    Half-day Electives Courses- Outdoor Adventure, Intro to Coding, 3D Model and Design, Intro to Cyber Security, Study Skills, SAT Prep

    Leadership Education Training - JROTC

    Fishburne is one of only a few schools that offers summer LET courses. A cooperative venture between the US Army and high schools, this curriculum focuses on character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. This course also includes field trips such as a visit to the Virginia Military Institute’s George Marshall Museum and Archives.

  • Outdoor Adventure

    In this active class, your son will have the opportunity to learn archery, fire starting, kayaking, fly fishing and lure tying, marksmanship, camping, and more!

    3D Modeling and Design

    Use various cad and graphic rendering programs to create 3D environments and objects. Explore the wonders of our 3D daVinci printer! Create your own video game in kodu game lab playable on an XBOX!

  • Study Skills and SAT Prep

    Younger students may improve performance in all subjects by learning study and note taking techniques that will enhance academic productivity. Older students may take an online SAT prep course to help prepare for this challenging college entry exam.

  • Introduction to Coding

    Get your feet wet with the basics of programing and computer logic, become familiar with MIT scratch and java to see what is possible even at the most basic levels of programing!

    Flight Training Program

    A cooperative venture between Fishburne and Eagles Nest Airport. Students will learn about aviation through both classroom and hands-on experience. $350

    Afternoon Athletics

    In the afternoon, cadets enjoy a break from the classroom as they participate in intramural type sports. Cadets may choose from: Football strength and conditioning, basketball, soccer, swimming and running, tennis, golf ($100), or Rifle ($100). Cadets may also choose to take “Sport Sampler” in which they participate in a variety of sports on a rotating schedule.

    Wednesday Afternoon Drill

    Wednesday afternoon is reserved for JROTC related activities. During this time, cadets will participate in team building, rappelling, one rope bridge, drill, and more!

    Weekend Off Campus Activities

    During the weekends, cadets enjoy a break from the more structured weekly schedule with assorted activities. In the past these activities have included: Kings Dominion, Paintball, a visit to Grand Caverns, and Massanutten Waterpark.
