Fishburme Military School Wrestling Takes 2 Gold at VIC Championships, Sending 14 to States
Coach Terry Waters Named VIC Coach of Year
Waynesboro, VA – Fishburne Military School made a statement, for a program of its size, this weekend by taking 2nd place overall and placing 9 wrestlers in the final rounds of the VIC Conference Championships in Roanoke on Saturday.
Senior Tyler Allen (Weyers Cave, VA) and junior Matthew Farrar (Waynesboro, VA) both earned gold medals in the Conference Championships.
Fishburne Coach Terry Waters was named Virginia Independent Conference (VIC) Coach of the Year. Waters, in his second year at the head of Fishburne Military School’s Program, has had a distinguished career that has included successful runs at Riverheads, Fort Defiance and Washington and Lee University.
Waters and the Fishburne Military School Caissons have their eyes set firmly on the VISAA State Wrestling Championships this coming Saturday (18 Feb) in Richmond, Virginia. Fishburne Military School has 14 wrestlers appearing in this year’s State Championships.
When asked about his predictions for the weekend, Waters responds simply, “We will be ready”.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies.
