Hogg award for Student Athlete was presented to Cadet Thomas Fosdick (Staunton, VA) and to recognize individual efforts and achievements. The awards presentations are then followed by a special dinner prepared for the athletes.

Last night, Fishburne Military School’s Athletics Director, Major Brian Greene (VA), began the evening by noting: “The purpose of this banquet is to recognize those who stuck with their teams and refused to quit. The refusal to quit is a characteristic we should all respect.”

Greene went on to thank the Coaches, Faculty, Staff and Parents for their continued support throughout the year before turning the podium over to each Coach or Team Captain to present individual team awards (winners listed below).

At the conclusion of the team awards, Greene congratulated all 2016-2017 FMS athletes for retaining the Hogg Cup for another year through their combined efforts. “The James G. Hogg Cup” Greene explained, “is awarded every year to the school that wins the most Varsity match-ups between Military School rivals FMS and Massanutten. With wins in Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Rifle, and Lacrosse; it is clear that Fishburne will keep the cup for one more year. Of the Twelve years that this cup has been awarded, FMS has won it ten times.”
