Caisson runners continued to show improvement. Junior Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN) led the effort by medalling in ninth place, posting a 5K personal record (PR) of 18:50 (shaving off 32 seconds from a PR last year). Junior Harlan Earhart (Fairfax Station, VA) came in at 22:22, shaving 35 seconds off his previous race time. Sophomore Will Terry (Charlottesville, VA) finished at 24:57; and Freshman Seth Leinonen (San Antonio, TX) rounded out the Varsity squad, finishing at 27:04.

Skipping the 2-mile Middle School division because they were ready for the challenge, two Caisson runners moved up to the JV race. Though neither had run the 5K (3.1 mile) distance before, 8th grader Aiden Smith (Arlington, VA) gave a consistent effort, fending off numerous surges by a FUMA runner. With a time of 23:36, he finished 12th in a field of 43 runners. Following closely behind, 8th grader Chase Johnson (Talcott, WV) ate up the hills to finish 15th with a time of 24:49.

Fishburne Military School Cross Country will have 2 meets this week– one on Monday at Ridgeview Park for our Middle Schoolers and one on Saturday at Wilson Memorial HS (previously cancelled because of hurricane Florence).

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
