Our military Summer School program system for day and
boarding students develops leaders of strong character in a fun,
family-oriented
environment.
For 131 years, Fishburne
Military School
has been teaching young men how function at their best every single day.
We
combine our academic, JROTC and athletic programs to develop tangible
improvements to grades, character and self-esteem. Our rigorous programs
also
instill an improved sense of punctuality, accountability, sharing and
camaraderie.
Our Summer School program was created to provide young men with the
opportunity
to make incremental improvements in these areas in just five short
weeks.
Quite often
young men need the opportunity to play
“catch-up” with their academic progress. Others would benefit from the
chance to
get ahead. Many of the students who have enrolled in Summer School also
enjoyed
our JROTC Summer program. Participating students receive academic credit
for
LET I or II, depending on their grade level. The program also includes
exciting
Adventure Training activities like orienteering and rappelling. In fact,
Summer
School 2010 will include the opportunity to take flying lessons in
addition to
the chance to play soccer, basketball, football, golf, tennis and/or
strength
& conditioning training!
What will Summer School be like for Your
Son?
Your son will enjoy Fishburne’s Summer School program
and
you, the parent, will be pleased with the results.
A typical day’s schedule at Summer School will include
morning and early afternoon classes followed by either athletics or
JROTC/military training in the afternoon. After dinner, Summer School
cadets
have supervised study periods where TAC (Training, Advising, &
Counseling)
Officers will assist in the completion of assigned homework. Cadets
enjoy some
free time on the weekends when they can play pick-up games, watch
movies, go on
trips, or go home with parents provided there aren’t any disciplinary
issues. Summer School students must successfully complete New Cadet
training
during the first week before being allowed to leave Fishburne on leave
or with
a town pass.
Boarding cadets are paired up with a roommate and are
required to keep their rooms clean and tidy. All cadets are required to
wear a
uniform and/or event specific apparel.

classes
in all major areas of the high school level academic curriculum to
include:
